By the third week we were starting to get into a little bit of a routine. Adaline was on a two hour time schedule and was drinking at least three ounces of formula at a time. Naturally, we had or good days and our bad days, but we were on our path. Addie also had her newborn photos done that weekend (May 20th), there was a little sticker shock (seriously, her photos cost more than our wedding photos), but after seeing how amazing her photographer was with her and how wonderful her pictures turned out I can honestly say they were worth every penny.
Here are a few:
The process of her photoshoot was pretty amazing. It did take over four hours (another reason why I can see it costs what it does), but watching Noelle with Addie was like watching a baby whisperer. I have to confess I was observing her quite intently so I could learn some of her tricks. Noelle was also very sweet and wonderful to work with in general that we plan on making her our family photographer. Adaline also had a few tricks of her own, so normally the adorable shots of the babies holding themselves up is a composite shot (meaning the photographer blends two photos) because babies cannot actually support themselves that way...however, little miss held herself up and Noelle was able to get lots of pictures of her. Also, during the family portrait time, Adaline decided to pee on my twice....hahahaha! I guess that is what I get for letting her go diaper free!
That week was also the week more of her personality began shinning through. I caught her a few times attempting to pull the wool over my eyes so to speak when she would fake sleeping. I kid you not, here was this baby, barely three weeks old who would close her eyes, leaving a sliver opening and when she peaked to see if you were looking and got caught she would close her eyes and smile, if she thought you were looking away her eyes would pop open. Once, I called her out on it "Addie, you faker! You're not really sleeping!" and she smiled wide, of course I couldn't help but laugh. Also, she seemed to respond more and more to the questions I would ask or comments I would make. She would push herself up and away from us, put her feet down to hard surfaces and walk and enjoyed being read to.
